Web Record Of Employment

Paper burden is a big headache for small business - our members tell us it's one of their biggest concerns, along with overall tax burden and the shortage of labour. Over the past year, CFIB has made great progress in reducing red tape and regulation in various ways and at different levels of government. The most recent federal victory is seeing major improvements made by Service Canada to the Record of Employment on the Web, especially since our members highlight the ROE as one of their worst paper burden problems.

Now that ROE Web has been improved, it is even more likely to save members a huge amount of time and money by greatly reducing the paper burden involved and the potential for mistakes in filling out the forms," said Garth Whyte, CFIB's executive vice-president.

To use the online service, employers must register. CFIB recently signed up and has been using the system at its Toronto head office for several weeks.

"We're thrilled to be using the improved system for ROEs and we can only imagine how much easier it will make life for our members," added Whyte. By registering for ROE Web, employers can:
  • Create, submit and print ROE forms via the Internet;
  • Eliminate the need to complete ROEs manually;
  • Send one ROE or hundreds at the touch of a button;
  • Receive instant validation of ROEs, which means increased data accuracy and fewer follow-up phone calls from Service Canada;
  • View, retrieve and amend ROEs anytime.
