Small business calls for tax relief and assurances of no new taxes on fuel

CFIB continues to urge the federal and provincial governments not to impose further fuel taxes on Canadians. In an open letter sent to finance ministers across the country July 11, Executive Vice President Garth Whyte shared the results of current member surveys on carbon taxes and cap-and-trade systems. Given the skyrocketing price of fuel, Whyte told the ministers they should be looking at alternatives that can help improve the environment without adding an additional burden to small business owners. CFIB’s campaign to end the 1.5 per cent federal fuel excise tax, and address the overall issue of fuel taxes, continues.
